What Naturism Really Needs-More Women

A lot has been written about the declining numbers and “greying” of naturism. The focus has been trying to get more young people involved in nude recreation, but that only addresses a small issue. The bigger question naturists and naturist organizations should be focusing on: how do we get more women interested in naturism?

Let’s face facts, the majority of naturists are men, especially older white men. If I were to go to my nearest nude beach (Black’s Beach in La Jolla, California) I would mainly see older men. The beach would resemble a locker room at a country club. The rarest sight on a nude beach is a lone female. And this female would be subjected to stares, unwanted attention, or worse.
